General description
The Red Bellied Water Snake is a non-venomous water
snake. They prefer areas such as swamps, pond, and other
water sources. It has a reddish-brown or grey appearance with
a reddish orange to yellowish belly. The juvenile are light brown
to pink with a dark colored blotches on its back. It is an aggressive
snake and will bite to defend itself.

this is a really good website and we have a hidden friend that lives under our steps it has tried to bite on people more than once. what will happen if you or your small child is bitten by one. this is a red belly water snake to the best of my knowledge.

do not kill this snake it is non venomous and slightly aggressive try to capture it with a net or a trap and let it free somewhere else preferably a pond or a creek
