Can be found: Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, Minnesota, South Dakota, and New Mexico

Short description: non-venomous, no neck, rounded head, typical, keeled scales, rounded pupils

General description:

The Lined Snake is a non-venomous snake. It is

a nocturnal snake, so it is rarely seen during the

day. This snakes coloration varies from grey to

brown. It has a cream color stripe running down its

back and on both of its sides. Its belly is normally

white or yellow, with a pair of black spotts running

down its center. This snake normally doesn’t bite if

threatened, but will if it has to.
