Typical foods: small mammals and lizards

Habitat: deserts and rocky hillsides

Can be found: California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah

Short description: venomous,  broad headed, triangular head, stout, keeled scales, vertical pupils

General description:

The Sidewinder Rattlesnake is a small venomous

snake that is found mainly in deserts or on rocky

hillsides. The Sidewinder got its name, for it moves

sideways. It throws its body in lateral waves and

presses down on two points of its body giving it the

leverage to move sideways. This snake is a grey or

brown colored snake with dark colored spots or

blotches.
