Adult body length: 20 - 30 inches

Body length at birth: 6 - 12 inches

Breeding period: April - May

Young per year: 4 - 27 young per year

Typical foods: tadpoles, amphibians, fish, salamanders

Habitat: streams, lakes, marshes, and sandy banks

Can be found: from Indiana to Nebraska, south to Louisiana and Texas

Short description: non-venomous, medium headed, rounded head, slender, smooth scales, rounded pupils

General description:

The Western Ribon Snake is a harmful, non-venomous

snake, Its is a very slender snake. Its body  color is black

with a white, yellow, or red stripe running down the center

of its back, and two yellow or white stripes running down

its side, one on each side. It belly color is normally white.
